So you’ve decided that you fancy a go at team chasing, but how on earth do you get into it?

Your first port of call is to visit the BTC website where you’ll find a mine of info relevant to getting you going. Rules, dates and schedules, membership options, blogs, course headcams and loads more. Then once you’ve decided you definitely want to compete and you have a good idea of which event and what class you want to do, what’s next?

The BTC App

So this is where the BTC App comes into play. It’s free to download from App Store, Google Play or via this link https://links.our-app.com/api/1402 but how does it help? Think of the App as the ‘Yellow Pages’ (for those old enough to remember them!) to all things team chasing. Essentially it’s a directory that provides you a quick link to our entries and results websites as well as lots of other useful info - a bit like a condensed version of the website. Each event has its own linked App found through the four squares icon at the top right of the BTC App or using the Event Locations Map. This is where they can put useful info like course maps and pictures, start times, directions to the event, results, official photographers etc.

Become a registered Rider and Member or Team Organiser

In order to compete you must be registered on our entries system and become a BTC member. Follow the links from the website or App and these take you to https://www.teamchasingreg.co.uk/register Register yourself then login to add your horse and buy either Annual membership or a day ticket (limited to 3 per year) for an event. There are really useful guides to all of this in the Help section. Registering on the system is a one-off thing where you set your own username and password for your rider account. This is where all your personal details, your horses, past and current entries and memberships are stored. If you ever cannot access your account please don’t register again just Contact Us and we will help you.

If you’re not going to ride but are just going to make entries then you need to register to be a Team Organiser instead.

You are now set up to make an entry.

Join a Team

But what if you don’t have a team already organised, how do you find a run?

If you can’t persuade 2/3 of your friends to join you in this venture then you need to find a team with a spare slot.

BTC has two ways to help you with this:

1. Click on ‘Find a Team’ in the event App menu and add a post. Don’t forget to also check in ‘Find a Rider’ as the perfect team might already be posted there!

2. Use our new BTC Riders and Supporters group on Facebook. Check through the posts to see who is looking for an extra rider and put a post up yourself. Just remember to bump your post rather than post multiple times!

There are also many other pages and groups on Facebook that help match up teammates or put teams together for you. Check out the likes of Team Chasing UK, Cunning Stunts Teamchase Teams, Mo’s Minions (Team Chasing) or the Beaglin’ Rascals Team Chasers.
